We have had National Collection status for our Nerines since 2017 and this is a stunning annual display, which varies each year depending on which Nerines are at their best. There are plants to buy every day and someone to answer your questions each Saturday and Sunday.

Plant Heritage Guernsey

Evening Primrose, Oenothera Biennis, is nocturnal, so its sweet smelling blooms open in the evening, attracting a different set of nighttime pollinators.

The sweet chestnut trees are in full bloom at the moment and you will notice their perfume the minute you walk past one. This particular example can be viewed from the new terrace at Les Cotils and is magnificent.

I really enjoy walking past a Buddleia bush. The perfume is glorious and there are usually a few butterflies enjoying it as well.

The largest Hosta I have ever seen and other views and flowers at Les Villets. If you missed it last Friday, the garden will be open for Floral Guernsey on Sunday, 8th August. The last photo gives you an indication of what David and Susie Farnon started with.

Some of the hydrangeas at Les Villets. The white ones are Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’. They have sterile florets, which makes the flower heads much larger, like spectacular white balls up to 30cm across. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit ...(AGM).

This morning we have had the most wonderful visit to Les Villets. There were plants for sale, Susie and David's natural swimming pool and some glorious carp in one of the ponds. Look closely, one of them has eye lashes!

This is the time of year for Salvia viridis, clary sage. This was grown from seed, which promised blue, white and pink bracts, but only the blue has appeared. It is an annual, but should self-seed freely around the garden.
